I chose Linda (Phoebe Cates) from Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Along with Brad (Judge Reinhold) behind her.





Did this wrestler for Toon Weekly, A Character design website run by my Friend Mike Giblin.
The challenge was a female wrestler.

Fore Play

I started with a rough pencil sketch. This is actually a cleaner version if the original. My original sketch is usually a really rough series of scribbles of forms.







I inked this with a Pitt brush pen right over top of my blue line sketch. I inked it as i was originally going to just fill it with flat colors. I can still do that if i want. This aslo gives me a line art version if I want to paint it digitally or just use it black & white.




I decided to paint this with watercolors with out black comic book outlines, so I transferred it to watercolor via my animation disc backlight

Turner Classic Movies has a different celebrity Guest Programmer each day this month. Today it's Rose McGowan.
The movies she picked are, Night of the Hunter (Robert Mitchum) . Out of the Past (Mitchum). A place in the Sun (Montgomeru Clift and Liz Taylor). and That touch of Mink (Cary Grant, Doris Day).
These are also among my favorite films. I should ask her out.

Tom Richmond Art!

I've admired Tom' Richmond's Mad work for a long time. I finally got the opportunity to buy an orignal.
These pages look way better than the printed pieces. Tom draws them about twice the size, 17 x 22.
Mad shrinks them down to about 8x 10. if you ever get a chance to see one of these up close tthe detail is amazing.
Hopefully tom doesn't mind I posted this Image.
He's a real nice guy, and Humble. At least until it comes to showing off his Weightlifting muscles

Crosseyed Babe

Quick Sketch with a Copic. I've never used these Brush tip copics before, they work nice.
I try to keep sketches like this loose, and don't worry too much about anatomical or believeable anatomy. I can always rework and fix some of those things. I like doing quick loose sketches way more than doing completely rendered stuff.

I like that she's crosseyed too.

Animation Timing

Here is an animation I did a few years ago with different timing. the first one is on ones. the second is "exposed on twos.

The third is an example of timing a slow start, and the fourth a slow finish.
The final two examples show how the animation might look if the breakdown drawing was closer to key frame 1 and the second closer to key frame 2. Keep in mind these are crude examples done after the fact. In reality the breakdowns would be drawn there and the inbetweens filled in correctly.
